Violinist Elgar KwekElgar Kwek graduated with honours from Britain's prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD). Since the age of 9, he has been performing the violin and his teachers include the late world-renowned Issac Stern,Lin Yao Ji in China, and Kam Kee Yong in Singapore. One of his most noted performance was as a guest solo violinist in the Aspen Music Festival during the late 1990s while performing with UBS Verbier Orchestra as a 1st violinist. He now performs at events like dinners, weddings, proposals, popups, music serenades, events, conferences and even birthday parties, together with inspiring the next with his Violin and Piano classes and coaching. He teaches from beginner level to diploma level, from children as young as three years old to adults. One of Singapore's most well known solo violinist for events, he dazzles with his quick mind for memorization of new music arrangements, and is able to work with a variety of artists, both as a lead and as an accompaniment. Extremely versatile, he plays the classics beautifully, brings popular music to a different level with his arrangements and basically, surprises and delights with a quirky sense of humour in the tunes he selects to accompany non musical acts. | Guzheng Artiste Indra ChenIndra started learning Guzheng at the age of 9, under the guidance of Mdm Chen Hui Lan and Mdm Zhang Lu Fen. She is currently under the tutelage of renowned Guzheng instructor, Madam Yin Qun. Indra graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts; Singapore with a Bachelor of Music (Honours), in partnership with the Royal College of Music degree programme. Indra was one out the outstanding recipients to to receive OCBC’s Local Undergraduate Scholarship. Indra has participated in numerous local and overseas competitions and was most recently awarded Third prize for Solo Guzheng Open Category in the National Chinese Music Competition in 2014. She also clinched the Gold Award in the Second International Zheng Competition (Overseas Group) that was held in Hong Kong in 2011, Silver Award for the First China-Japan-Korea International Zheng Contest - Senior Professional Category that was held in Korea in 2012, and also the Silver Award in the Tong Yan Cup International Zheng Art Week festival - Senior Professional Category that was held at Harbin in the same year. An active member of the People’s Association Youth Chinese Orchestra, she represents the organization to perform both locally and overseas. An experienced guzhen player, she was selected by PAYCO to perform at the Solok Folklore Festival held in Indonesia in 2011. She also performed with the Ensemble Mosiak for an award winning piece in the Young Composers in Southeast Asia Festival 2013. |
